Force of Nature Ancestral Beef Review and Recipe

*This post may contain affiliate links. Please read our disclosure policy for more info and thank you for your support.

My new favorite way to add nutrients to my family’s diet is with organ meats. You can eat organ meats on their own, take them in supplement form, or purchase them blended in with regular ground meat. I have found that eating an ancestral ground beef blend is the easiest and most efficient way to include organ meats into your diet. As a holistic nutritionist I love to try different quality brands, so today I want to share an honest review of Force of Nature’s grass-fed beef ancestral blend.

What is an Ancestral Blend?

An ancestral blend is a blend of ground meat combined with organ meats like beef liver and heart. Some options include: ground beef, bison, venison, and chicken. Many of our ancestors consumed organ meats on a regular basis or at specific times to fulfill a purpose. After hunting, the whole animal was consumed by the hunter, even the organ meats and organ meats were given to pregnant women because of their nutritional value. This is why the name ancestral is used, as a way to get back to our roots and eat nose to tail aka the whole animal.

What are the Nourishing Properties of Organ Meats

As mentioned above, organ meats have been prized for their nutritional value for centuries. Beef liver and beef heart are packed with many nutrients and nourishing properties. Beef liver, specifically, is considered nature’s multivitamin. High in an absorbable form of vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, the B vitamins, choline, easy to absorb iron, folate, selenium, zinc, and many more nutrients. Adding beef liver to your diet can gives you many nutrients that work synergistically in the body, aiding in health and overall wellness. Beef liver has also been known to have an anti-fatigue factor because of its high levels of CoQ10 and B vitamins.

Benefits of the Force of Nature Brand

Grass-fed and Finished: Grass-fed meat comes from cows that are raised on pasture. This is important for our health because an animal that is able to eat different plants and live in the sunshine and fresh air is a healthier animal to consume because of all the additional phytochemicals present in its diet (See this study for more information). Also, many nutrients are higher in grass-fed meat than in conventionally raised cattle. Specifically, heart-healthy nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids are significantly higher and more balanced with omega-6 fatty acids. A study cited on Force of Nature’s website shows that grass-fed, grass-finished beef is higher in antioxidants and lower in saturated fats.

Regenerative Meat: Regenerative meat comes from animals that are raised on regenerative land. Regenerative agriculture strives to restore the land by focusing on soil health by creating an environment that is biodiverse and includes livestock. Eating regeneratively raised beef can add more nutrients to your diet, and is healthier for the animals and environment.

Animal Welfare: The benefits of grass-fed, grass-finished, regeneratively raised meat aren’t just for the human consumer, these practices also benefit the animals. Force of Nature shares that their animals are allowed to eat the diets they were created to by living on the land and they are encouraged to express their normal and natural behaviors. This honors the animal giving it a better and healthier life in contrast to the stressful and unnatural environments some conventional livestock live in.

An Honest Review of Force of Nature Grass-Fed Beef Ancestral Blend

As a holistic nutritionist, I love the Force of Nature beef ancestral blend. I strive to make the meals that I cook as nutrient dense as possible, to promote health, growth and wellness in my family. When you use an ancestral blend you are incorporating so many additional nutrients into your diet that are beneficial to your health. I love this blend because it gives me an easy way to include organ meats into my whole family’s diet without additional preparations. No need to source and prepare beef liver or beef heart on your own. I think it’s perfect for the busy mom and family and the best way to start to introduce organ meats into your diet. This is my honest opinion and at this time I have no affiliation with Force of Nature.

Pros:

  • More nutritious, because it includes organ meats and is grass-fed and finished
  • Easy to incorporate into your diet, easily takes the place of conventional beef
  • Requires no addiontal preparation of the organ meats
  • Easy to order online and have shipped to your door
  • Minimal taste difference and can easily “cover” the organ meat taste with seasonings and spices
  • No texture difference once cooked

Cons:

  • Isn’t availabe at every store and may have to order online (ordering online can be a pro or con)
  • Is more expensive than conventional beef and most grass-fed options
  • Looks different than conventional beef (I add this in as a con because if you are coming from eating conventional beef you will notice a difference in the way the ancestral blend looks, (you will see bits of the organ meat and it took me a while to get used to this)

Is the ancestral blend worth it? In my opinion, yes. The nutritional value, easy of use and the proper care for the animals makes it worth it, for me to purchase Force of Nature’s ancestral beef blend. The cost difference is also worth it because when I consume this ancestral blend on a regular basis, I feel my best and have no need to use supplements.

Ancestral Beef Blend Herb Burger Recipe

This ancestral beef blend herb burger is simple and delicious. I love to incorporate lots of spices and herbs when making an ancestral burger because it helps to disguise the organ meat flavor. Even though the taste difference between ancestral beef and conventional beef is minimal, when you are first incorporating organ meats into your diet it can be beneficial to disguise the flavor a bit, until you get more used to eating organ meats.

How to Make Ancestral Beef Blend Herb Burgers

To make this ancestral burger recipe you only need a few ingredients, Force of Nature ancestral beef blend, spices, coconut aminos, fresh herbs, and toppings. I love to use fresh oregano and thyme but you can choose any fresh herbs that you have on hand.  Simply combine the ancestral beef, herbs, and spices in a large bowl and mix to combine. With your hands shape 4 equal-sized burger patties and place them in a preheated cast iron skillet or on the grill. Cook on one side until you notice it is cooking through the middle, then flip the burgers and cook until they reach your desired doneness. I love to enjoy these burgers just as a patty with onions and mushrooms or on a bun with all kinds on toppings. This recipe is versatile and can be customized to your liking, just make sure to include the spices, herbs, and coconut aminos for optimal taste.
